Well, my bacteria-ridden children have managed to give me a fantastic new bug. Sore throat, sinus - the whole thing. It started Friday. Friday was work then home to load our entire set of kitchen cabinets and appliances onto my brothers truck. I topped the evening off with about three hours of clean up and nail-pulling. I thought I could treat the oncoming cold with my old standby-bourbon. I guess that's a cure for someone in his twenties. Saturday was a long day starting at 6:30am. We started the floor. Mahogany planks that are five and a quarter inches wide. The wood comes from a Phillipine grade school (it's supposed to be a hundred years old). I don't know if it is, but I like the idea. I like that the wood already has a story. It's been lived on. Little kids pattering over the floors. It's a nice image. Grade schools are a wonderful place for most kids. I hope some of that spirit is brought back as we sand, and refinish these floors. I am excited for our lower floor remodel to come to a close. Living without a kitchen is proving mildly inconvient. I haven't been this sick in years. Stress? Could be. Maybe those pattering feet will chase away my bug.
I can't wait to see the finished project! I raise my chai tea in hopes of your steady and long-maintained recovery!
